Our Verdict
At 255g (medium), the MountainFire 15 manages to keep its weight low while offering enough capacity for a full day. The 15-litre roll-top compartment compresses well and holds shape neatly, with just enough structure from the harness to keep things balanced when fully loaded. There’s no bouncing about — the 3D mesh vest rides close and flexes with you, even when you're moving quickly across broken ground.
Up front, there’s a good mix of stretch mesh and two zipped pockets, so snacks, gloves, or a phone are all easily accessible on the go. The roll-top access works well for keeping gear dry, although it’s not the quickest to access mid-run.
The pole storage is simple but functional, and while there’s only one method, it’s enough to keep things secure on less technical ground. If you want a vest that carries like a pack that works well for bigger days out, this is a solid option.
