Our Verdict
The Monsoon Mitt is a simple, low-bulk option that focuses on keeping weight down. My Medium pair weighs 36g and feels sized for a close fit. Most shell mitts run large to accommodate thick insulation, but these are true to size. They sit comfortably over a thin liner glove, though adding a warmer insulating glove underneath may require sizing up. This reflects the mitts' focus on lower-level trails rather than exposed winter ground.
Waterproofing and breathability are reliable for a mitt at this weight. The membrane handles light to moderate exertion well, and taped seams prevent ingress. The silicone palm provides a steady grip on poles and damp kit. Touchscreen performance is workable for basic navigation and quick photos, but as with any mitt, precision is limited.
The stretch cuff is easy to pull on with damp hands, and the mitts pack neatly into the supplied stuff sack. Build quality feels tidy with a clean finish and smooth internal fabric. They work well as a just-in-case layer for wet commutes and hill paths where insulation is not a priority.
