Packable waterproof coverage for wet days
Extremities says:
The Monsoon Fold Away Cap combines lightweight waterproof protection with Extremities X-Dry® technology. Featuring an adjustable elasticated drawcord and a tri-panel foldable peak for easy packing, it offers comfort, versatility, and visibility in wet-weather conditions.
Our Verdict
At 65g, the Extremities Monsoon Fold Away Cap is light enough to tuck away on days when the forecast looks unsettled. The X-Dry construction gives proper waterproof protection, while the foldable peak makes it much easier to pack than a conventional stiff-brimmed cap.
I like the rear drawcord adjustment, which lets you get a secure fit quickly when the wind picks up. The peak also gives useful coverage in rain, especially if you wear glasses and want to keep water away from your eyes.
With a 5,000mm hydrostatic head and modest breathability, I see this more as weather protection than a cap for high-output use. For walking in persistent rain, though, the low weight and compact folded size make a lot of sense.
