Fast-hiking comfort with wet-weather protection
Mammut says:
Where the swiftness of a trail running shoe meets the durability of a hiking shoe. Made with a Mammut Swiss Design outsole for reliable grip, these shoes are equipped for your favorite local trails. The rocker-shaped sole provides a smooth landing and easy toe-off for maximum energy return. A cushioned EVA Outdoor midsole and Ortholite insole provide exceptional all-day comfort and stability. The GORE-TEX Stretch membrane flexes during each step for greater freedom of movement, while keeping your feet dry when the weather turns. The Aenergy Hike Low GTX is the perfect choice for fast hiking on steady trails.
Our Verdict
At 371g per shoe, the Mammut Aenergy Hike Low GTX has the light, cushioned feel of a fast-hiking shoe while still offering more protection than a trail runner. The rocker-shaped sole helps the shoe roll smoothly through each step, and the EVA midsole gives enough cushioning for longer days on steady trails.
The GORE-TEX lining makes sense for wet grass, showers, and muddy paths, while the Mammut outsole is well-suited to mixed trail use. It is not the best choice for very rough mountain ground, but it works well for walkers wanting a waterproof, lightweight shoe for faster day hikes, local trails and mixed UK conditions.
