Our Verdict
The Mafate Hike weighs 372g per shoe and leans heavily into cushioning, with a soft, forgiving midsole that takes the edge off harder ground and longer days on the trail. The fit is secure through the midfoot, with enough forefoot space to stay comfortable as the day goes on.
Underfoot, the high stack gives a smooth, rolling feel, while the wide base helps maintain stability on uneven terrain. The Vibram outsole grips well on mixed surfaces, including wet rock and loose ground. The upper balances durability with breathability, drying quicker than waterproof options and staying comfortable in variable conditions. It sits closer to a trail shoe than a traditional boot, offering a lighter, more flexible feel that works well for covering distance.
