A lightly insulated and highly breathable wind shell that offers some wet weather protection.
Wind and water resistant shell combined with the warm lining making this jacket extremely versatile. Can be used as a middle layer and be an outer wear.
Montbell's Light Shell Jacket is a sleek and stylish wind shell that has been lined with Montbell's Climaplus mesh, Climaplus is Montbell's fleece, so the jacket is lined with a hybrid mesh and fleece, which helps trap warm air, but is incredibly breathable. The mesh works like fleece, moving sweat and moisture away from your base layer; it's a very soft material that feels soft and supple next to the skin.
The outer shell, a 40-denier nylon, does a fantastic job of blocking out wind and can cope with light rain, mist and snow. The side panels of the jacket are made from a none insulated panels that have a slight stretch, which again aids in ventilation. The jacket excels on cool, windy days when you are working hard in place of a fleece wind shell combination; it will get a lot of use here in the north of England.
Oddly for a wind jacket, the Light Shell doesn't have a draw cord around the hem, and I found the partially-elasticated cuffs a little loose.
In terms of fit, it's suggestible to size up in Montbell clothing. I'm generally a medium, but the large fitted me well (apart from the cuffs)
