Our Verdict
The Patagonia Houdini Rock Pants are highly specialised wind trousers. At 102g (Medium), their main appeal is how little space they take up while still providing protection when the wind picks up.
The 100% recycled nylon ripstop fabric is light and packable, with a PFAS-free DWR finish for light rain. I would not rely on them for sustained rain, but on windy ridges and cold belays, they work incredibly well.
The Spiral Zip cuffs make it easier to pull them on or off over shoes. The elastic waistband is also designed to work over a harness, which shows how climbing-focused they are.
