Our Verdict
The Hestra Heated Liner Mitts offer a reliable balance of warmth, comfort and practicality for winter hillwalking or ski touring. They provide direct heat to the backs of the fingers and thumbs, adding welcome warmth when used beneath a shell mitten. Despite their combined weight with batteries (164g plus 194g for the liners, Medium), they feel surprisingly light once on the hand.
The heating is even and effective on low and medium settings, extending comfort well into sub-zero temperatures. The three-stage control makes it easy to manage output without removing gloves, and the soft microfleece lining keeps things comfortable when switched off. In milder conditions, the liners can be worn without the battery pack for a lighter, simpler setup.
Build quality is solid, with neat stitching and a smooth polyamide outer that slides easily inside most shell mitts. The batteries are compact and charge quickly via USB, and the liners remain flexible enough for gripping poles or adjusting kit.
