Our Verdict
The Gossamer Gear Grit 28L Rucksack blends vest-style stability with ultralight design without skimping on practical details. At 464g, it’s built for fast packers and minimal kit days, but its carry feels more secure and stable. I particularly like the broad, well-cushioned shoulder straps and their wealth of storage, including a zipped phone pocket that’s usable mid-stride.
The stretch mesh on the front and side pockets is tough and holds shape well, and the roll-top closure keeps things streamlined. You get thoughtful extras like trekking pole carry, soft flask support, fastbelt attachment points and external tie-on loops that allow for compression or extra gear lash-on when needed. The back panel is removable, and there's a loop for hanging a hydration bladder if required.
It’s a fantastic pack for fastpacking, long day hikes, or ultralight overnights.
