Supportive carry and practical organisation in a size that works well for long days and lightweight overnight trips.
Gregory says:
The Stout is designed to take the complexity out of your adventure. Using a single size, adjustable torso system to properly
fit your body, the precision fit is matched with easy to use features you need for multiple days on the trail. Super-soft hipbelts and shoulder straps provide all-day comfort, and the 3D foam backpanel with stylish printing means you’ll feel
good and look good as you cruise down the trail. Designed using our lifecycle analysis tool, this group of packs was built with a reduced impact in mind, through the use of blended, recycled material
Our Verdict
The Stout 35 feels more structured than many packs in this category, with the alloy frame and padded hipbelt giving noticeably better load control when carrying heavier or winter kit. At 1324g, it is not trying to compete with minimalist frameless designs, but the extra support makes sense for the intended use.
The adjustable torso system is one of the stronger features here. It gives the pack a broader fit range than many fixed-back alternatives, while the padded harness and hipbelt keep the carry comfortable without feeling overly bulky.
Organisation is straightforward and effective. The large front stretch pocket works well for waterproofs or spare layers, while the hipbelt pockets are genuinely large enough for trail snacks and most phones. #
Ventilation is reasonable, the perforated back panel helps reduce heat build-up during steady movement.
The Stout 35 works best for walkers wanting a supportive, well-organised pack for hillwalking, winter day use and occasional lightweight overnight trips.
