Patagonia says:
Our Great Waves logo combines Patagonia’s word mark with Hokusai’s iconic wave and Great Pacific Iron Works, the name of our first retail store, which is a short walk from some great waves in Ventura, California. We screen printed it on the Men's Great Waves Responsibili-Tee®, a short-sleeved T-shirt that has rib-knit at the neck and shoulder-to-shoulder taping for durability. This jersey-knit tee has a roomier regular fit, and it's made of a soft, comfortable 50/50 blend of recycled cotton and postconsumer recycled polyester. By utilizing fabric scraps and recycled bottles, this tee reduces our reliance on virgin raw materials. Made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory.
Our Verdict
The Patagonia Great Waves Responsibili-Tee, at 199g (Medium), is a casual T-shirt for travel, rest days and everyday use rather than a technical hiking layer.
The 50/50 recycled cotton and recycled polyester feels soft and natural against the skin, while the polyester content helps reduce reliance on virgin materials. I would still treat it as an everyday tee, not something I would choose for sweaty climbs, wet walks or fast trail miles.
The regular fit gives it a roomier feel than a close-cut performance top, and the crew neck, taped shoulder seams, and straight hem keep the design simple and easy to wear.
