Securely fastening to downtubes and similar diameter tubes, the Expedition Downtube Pack is a versatile and compressible pack with enough capacity for a 710ml water bottle.
A stable velcro attachment fits to tubes of varying diameters but we do not recommend mounting on tubes with a circumference of less than 9.5cm, such as seat stays and forks.
Our Verdict
The Apidura Expedition Downtube Pack 1.2 L offers reliable waterproofing and secure attachment in a small, well-constructed package. At 85 g, it uses welded Hexalon fabric that shrugs off rain, while the Hypalon-reinforced straps hold firm. The design fits neatly beneath the downtube without interfering with pedalling or bottle cages.
The roll-top closure seals tightly and compresses the contents to stop movement. Capacity is ideal for tools and snacks, and the low profile suits compact or full-suspension frames with limited space.
Build quality is excellent, and once correctly fitted, the pack remains stable. For riders who want a weatherproof, minimalist storage option that’s dependable and unobtrusive, this small downtube pack performs as intended.
