Our Verdict
The Vargo ExoTi 50 Backpack offers a unique blend of external and internal frame benefits, merging lightweight versatility with excellent load transfer for rugged backcountry use. The titanium alloy external frame provides a solid structure that efficiently directs weight to the hips with the help of an ergonomic lumbar support plate. This external frame may be a deal-breaker for some, but it facilitates the bag's ability to handle heavier loads, so this should be considered.
The 50-litre nylon ripstop bag is spacious and well-suited for overnight and weekend excursions. I appreciate the pack’s ventilated shoulder harness, which helps reduce back sweat, and the dual water bottle pockets, which provide easy access to hydration. I’m not a fan of the mesh hip-belt pocket, but that is a personal preference; it does mean you can quickly see what is in each pocket, but I would prefer a little more protection.
With its removable floating lid and sleek compression system, the ExoTi 50 is designed to be versatile, durable, and supportive—ideal for serious trekkers seeking a hybrid backpack design solution.
