Our Verdict
At 136g (Medium), it uses Polartec Power Dry fabric to wick moisture effectively and dry quickly during exertion. The close, athletic fit allows for efficient layering; however, those with broader builds may prefer to size up for added comfort. I found the fabric to be resilient across the shoulders and arms, where thinner baselayers often wear down quickly under straps. The Fresh Face treatment does make a difference in keeping the garment fresher over repeated use, a welcome touch on longer outings.
The flatlock seams sit neatly against the skin, adding to durability, while the articulated cut provides enough reach for climbing moves without restriction. In exposed wind, the fabric offers little resistance, so pairing it with a shell is sensible; however, in mild or dry conditions, it performs well on its own. With UPF 50+ protection, odour control, and a good balance of comfort and toughness, it is a well-designed technical layer for sustained, high-output use.
