Our Verdict
Storm’s Down Proofer is a wash-in solution designed to renew durable water repellency on down-filled jackets and sleeping bags. The 225 ml bottle provides enough for several garments and coats evenly when used alongside a technical down wash. Regularly washing and reproofing technical clothing maintains breathability, prolongs fabric life, and reduces waste by keeping gear performing as intended for longer. Once heat-activated, the treatment helps maintain loft and prevents clumping, ensuring down stays dry and warm for longer. The formula is PFC-, PFAS-, and PFOA-free, with a smooth, flexible finish that resists abrasion without leaving residue or stiffness. Used correctly, it keeps insulation performing close to factory levels and extends the lifespan of high-quality down kit.

Instructions -
- Add one garment into the washing machine. Avoid overfilling your drum, technical garments need to move freely to make the most of both mechanical and chemical cleaning.
- Pour 75ml of Storm Proofer into the conditioning compartment & if cleaning using Storm One Wash Cycle add 75ml of Storm Down Wash into the detergent compartment.
- Set your machine to a 30 degree synthetic low spin cycle or a technical sport garment setting if available.
- Follow garment care instructions for drying. Hang to drip dry for at least 20 minutes before tumble drying.
- Heat by tumble drying a low heat setting according to the care label, removing the garment perodically to agitate the baffels to spread the down evenly. Tip: add Storm Down Balls to maximize loft.
