Our Verdict
The Nortec Crest 2.5 is a capable micro crampon for mixed winter terrain. The Medium pair weighs 320g. I found that the silicone elastomer adheres firmly to different types of footwear and remains flexible in low temperatures. Fourteen steel points, supported by a twisted chain, give a reliable grip on packed snow and ice, with the extended front section helping control on steeper ground.
The toe hoop adds stability, and the connector design allows the elastomer to be replaced if it wears out. Underfoot comfort is good, as the plates sit low and distribute pressure evenly. The length adjustment strap is useful for dialling in fit across boots and lighter shoes. For winter hillwalking, general mountain trails, or icy tracks where traction matters and technical ice work is not on the agenda, the Crest 2.5 is a practical, well-engineered option.
