The high-quality hybrid softshell Courmayeur Pants have been developed for ambitious mountain sports enthusiasts. The highly breathable, elasticated and wind-repellent Schoeller® softshell material makes them suitable for a wide range of applications, while providing comfort and the required freedom of movement. The more robust double-weave material on the seat, knees and lower legs is particularly abrasion-proof and more than a match for contact with rocks. The waistband can be adjusted from the outside to ensure a perfect fit. An essential feature for mountaineering and climbing: pockets allowing easy access even when wearing a climbing harness. A PFC-free DWR treatment gives the Courmayeur SO Pants durable dirt- and water-repellent properties.
Our Verdict
I'm a big fan of these Courmayeur SO Pants; a lot of thought has been put into making these some of the most comfortable hiking trousers I have used. A highly breathable, highly mobile and wind-repellent softshell has been used around the thighs and upper rear leg; this unrestrictive material facilitates fantastic movement and is well suited to climbing and scrambling. The trouser's lower leg and pants' seat have been reinforced to protect the trousers while you scramble over rocks and brush up against boulders.
The stand-out feature for me is the hook and loop adjustments around the waist of the trousers. These adjustments replace a traditional belt and allow you to tailor the fit of the trousers on the fly. The waistband is also wide and fits well, and provides additional comfort and support. Additionally, the width of the waistband means that the trousers fit incredibly well and do not need to be adjusted, which is esspechally useful when wearing a pack.
