Protective ground cover for the Chinook 1 Plus Footprint
Big Sky International says
Tent footprint is made from durable lightweight fabric. Corners have S-hooks that are used to attach footprint to tent.
The footprint is smaller than the floor so any water from sides of tent will run onto the ground, instead of on to the footprint, then under the tent.
The footprint is colour coded. RED for foot end and BLACK for head end
Our Verdict
Most manufacturers recommend using a footprint to extend the life of your tent's groundsheet, but if you've just bought an ultralight tent, do you want to carry the extra weight?
We recommend using a footprint if you expect to camp on rough ground, especially with lightweight tents made of fabric like the Tiger Wall. Some footprints have other uses, such as pitching just the flysheet and footprint together as an ultralight shelter - so in this case, the footprint provides you with increased flexibility in your shelters. The footprint also does a great job of keeping the tent's floor clean when your pitch is wet or muddy.
