Customer Service Administrator
Full time: 37.5 hours per week as part of a 6-day rota (Monday to Saturday)
Job Description:
Ultralight Outdoor Gear is an established retailer of outdoor clothing and equipment for backpacking, trekking and adventure. Based on Teesside, the company evolved out of a passion for backpacking and a love of the outdoors with the idea to bring the best lightweight kit together under one virtual 'roof'.
We are currently recruiting a Customer Service Administrator to join our team based in the North East of England. There is a dual focus split between the customer service and business administration elements of the organisation. The post holder will be part of the Customer Service, Showroom and Administration Team, contributing to the day to day working and efficiency of the department.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responding to customer enquiries via telephone, email and face to face in our showroom.
- Serving customers and providing product advice
- Processing customer returns
- Handling warranty cases and liaising with suppliers
- Communicating with couriers
- Maintaining financial records for the business, such as invoice processing and updating financial data and spreadsheets.
- Creating listings on our eBay channel
- Assisting with product reviews
- The candidate will also have the opportunity to be involved in video content
- Liaising with the Customer Service Team Leader in order to contribute to the efficiency of the Customer Service Department.
- The post holder may also be required to work in other departments from time to time
Essential Requirements:
- Good customer service skills and attitude
- Patience and an empathy with customer's needs
- Strong communicator
- High standard of numeracy and literacy
- IT Skills – Excel and Outlook
- Accurate record keeping
- Willingness to learn
- Extremely organised with a high attention to detail
- Ability to work unsupervised, as part of the Customer Service Team and with other departments
- Experience within a customer service environment
Desirable Requirements:
- Enthusiastic about the outdoors with good knowledge of outdoor kit and technologies
- Experience within the outdoor industry
- Experience within an online business
- Keen to be involved in wider opportunities such as hiking trips etc.
Working Relationships:
Accountable to: Customer Service Manager and Team Leader
Liaises with: Customer Service Team, other departments
Position: Permanent, Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £28,726
Location: Wynyard, Billingham

- This position is 37.5 hours per week. The post holder will work two Saturdays per month. The rota will be Tuesday to Saturday when working a Saturday and Monday to Friday otherwise.
- This post is office based. No remote working is involved.
