Montane Women’s Protium Lite Hoodie Review - ''This has been the mid-layer I have turned to over the last few months whilst training for a coast-to-coast walk in May''

This is an extremely comfortable and versatile zipped hoodie. The close-fitting design and 4-way stretch fabric help it move with the body.
This has been the mid-layer I have turned to over the last few months whilst training for a coast-to-coast walk in May, coupled with a long or short sleeved base-layer and a waterproof when an outer layer is required. The gridded ‘Thermo-grid’ brushed fabric helps keep the body temperature regulated by moving moisture away from the body.
The flat seems and soft polyester/elastane fabric help achieve excellent overall comfort and you soon forget you are wearing it. It moves with the body, regardless of how active you are. I have also adopted it as a casual piece for nipping to the coffee shop, wearing to work and warming up in yoga. The Moonscape colourway has been well admired and with the subtle Montane logo on the left sleeve it has a sporty look but not overly showy.
The hoodie has been laundered regularly, but the Polygene fabric does prevent odour-causing bacteria and microbes settling on the fabric, so this is encouraging for my coast-to-coast hike. The drying loop under the hood will also help to air it after prolonged use.
The close-fitting hood is purely about function - great if you need to wear a helmet, but looks a bit odd otherwise! The full length YKK zip extends up to about chin heights, helping keep draughts out. The zip tucks away at the top to stop any facial aggravation. Two zipped hand pockets are essential and well placed and there are two additional deep internal pockets, though these don’t have any sort of closure.
As the temperatures have soared in late-April, this has become the lightweight packable layer I have carried for when the sun goes down and temperature drops. It compresses into a bumbag or wraps around the waist.
I have been wearing a size 10 and I believe this to be true to size, but if you prefer a slightly looser fit, then you may wish to size up from your normal size.
As you can see, I am never far from my Women’s Protium Lite Hoodie.
