MONTANE Womens Pac Plus Gore-Tex Jacket

This is the lightest jacket that I tried, and I had some doubts as to whether it could be classed as an all-season waterproof; but having had it on extended test all through the winter season, I'm happy that it is more than substantial and waterproof enough for the job. Made from 100% recycled Gore-Tex Paclite Plus, it's tough and packable, whilst being fairly breathable. The hood is well shaped and large enough to fit over a helmet or ponytail, and the cut is an active shape that allows good freedom of movement. Despite the low weight it includes underarm zips, and has a nice brushed fleece chinguard. Annoyingly, the pockets detract from an otherwise great jacket. Not only are the zips a bit on the small side
(I can't squeeze a laminated map in), there's a mesh lining and they open into the body of the jacket. This is great for additional venting but it's also a source of water ingress if the zips are left even slightly undone. Montane claims that this is a jacket for all seasons, and I'd mostly agree - but only if you are fastidious about zipping your pockets up.
