Montane Dart Long Sleeve T-Shirt Review - “A great versatile baselayer and was my only choice for a recent multi-day hike.”

If it helps, I’ll cut right to the chase, buy this baselayer. Not just one but a few of them. I’ve worn mine in single digit figure walks in the Yorkshire Moors through to 20°c sunny all-day mountain walks abroad, and on every occasion I’ve always felt comfortable.
When it comes to sizing, stick with the size that you are if you want a proper fitted baselayer. I’m a Medium fit and the Medium is a close fit but still allows for a full range of movement without feeling restricted - no pinching around the armpits at all. I own this top in a Large too as it feels great as a stand along top on warmer days. In both sizes the arm and body length is ideal, it doesn’t move up under a rucksack and, if needed, can be tucked in and will stay there all day. I’d always go for the Long Sleeve over a Short Sleeve for my baselayers as you just never know when it will get cold, but you can still roll the sleeves up for a short-sleeved effect. I would go for a zip-neck option too for extra ventilation but prefer the no frills of a round neck for comfort.
I have certainly no concerns about chafing with this top either, with the seam construction and the fabric against your skin is wonderful. You really can just keep wearing this top quite happily.
The baselayer has been treated with POLYGIENE® permanent odour control, making it ideal for multi-day hikes. From experience, I’ve managed to wear one for 3 days before I cleaned it. This was more from paranoia than an actual whiff coming off the fabric. When I did need to clean it, the top was easy to handwash, dried quickly and smelt fresh once again. A UPF 20+ fabric is always a bonus on clothing when it's being used as a stand alone.
The Montane Dart Long Sleeve T-Shirt is for me a great versatile baselayer and was my only choice for a recent multi-day hike. If you ask in the office here at Ultralight Outdoor Gear, quite a few people own one of these in one shape or form - Short Sleeve, Lite, Zip Neck etc. A proper tried and tested item of clothing from all of us.
