Knoydart 2017 - Introduction

Knoydart, Western Scotland - 5 Days Across The Pennisula
In early 2017, Danny made the spontaneous decision to head off backpacking in late March with an old friend. A few locations were considered but in the end they settled on Knoydart in North West Scotland. A place lots of people have read about but few have ever visited. Spring is the perfect time to visit the Knoydart Peninsula because the dreaded Knoydart midges shouldn’t yet have made an appearance. Knoydart is one of the last true wilderness areas left in the UK with a population of only 200, most of who live in the main settlement at Inverie. The peninsula is not connected to the UK road network so is accessible only by boat or on foot.
