Mission & Values
Our mission is simple: Create the world’s best socks and stand behind them unconditionally. Our values are even simpler – We value families. We value differences. We are direct, straightforward, and truthful. We value honesty and a hard day’s work. We are penny foolish and pound wise. We are tough, independent, and respectful. We wear it on our sleeves. We are authentic. We have yet to produce our best sock.
Over 40 Years of Sock Making in Vermont
Yarn is just yarn. Machines are just machines. We are the ones who hold the standard – and we have for over 40 years. Our Mill is our philosophy and it’s why we’re still knitting socks in Vermont. Even now having three facilities in Northfield and Waterbury, the sentiment is the same. We are still one family. We still own the entire process. And we’ve yet to produce our best sock.
Operations Today
Operations today look different than they did 40 years ago. But our mindset is the same. We’ve got better tech and access to more sustainable materials now. Our workforce has grown as have our Mills. But we’re still knitting socks in Vermont and focused on creating a genuine product. And much of that is attributed to the commitment of our long-tenured employees.
Sustainability
We are a sock company, and we don’t believe we can be a positive force for our community – or claim to be socially responsible – without committing to environmental responsibility, too.
For us, that commitment begins with durability, one of our primary design principles. Fundamentally, sustainability is a design decision that requires a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation. By designing for durability, we don’t simply ensure that our products perform better, last longer, and hold up to our Unconditional Lifetime Guarantee. To us, making a more durable product is a hallmark of buying less and keeping textiles out of landfill, and it’s one of the best ways to minimize the usage of raw materials we rely on.
Materials in Our Socks
Every material we use in our socks has been carefully chosen and tested to meet our rigorous durability standards. We currently use natural and synthetic fibers, and only 3 types of fiber per sock. As you’d expect, we are actively investigating and testing new fibers and yarn blends that do not appear in our current products.
We’ve prioritised Merino Wool throughout our product lines and our goal of producing the most responsibly made product is reflected in our commitment to the success of the Responsible Wool Standard.
