Our Verdict
The Patagonia Black Hole Duffel 100L is durable and sustainable for gear-intensive travel and adventuring. Its burly 900D recycled ripstop polyester exterior is laminated with a recycled TPU film, allowing it to withstand abrasions, moisture, and rough treatment.
One of the standout features is the ability to convert the duffel into a backpack using the removable, padded shoulder straps. This makes hauling the large 100L capacity much more comfortable, especially when negotiating uneven terrain. The reinforced haul handles also provide a sturdy grip when hoisting the loaded bag.
The organisation is well-accounted for with an exterior zippered pocket that can be accessed from the outside or inside, a mesh interior lid pocket and daisy chains on the exterior to lash on extra gear. The duffel stuffs into its zippered pocket for compact storage when not in use.
