Our Verdict
If you have tried bivvying and decided its not for you or you have wanted to try a bivvy but feel you may be too claustrophobic, the Three Wire Mesh Bivvy from Big Agnes may be worth some consideration. Incorporating this with a tarp is a brilliant lightweight option.
Its roomie inside, we used a NeoAir Topo Luxe mat inside (the larges mat we had on hand) and the three hooped bivvy swallowed it, there was plenty of room inside for you and a large sleeping bag if needed.
it’s a strait forward pitch, just the one pole. The bivvy can be secured with five peg out points, thought only three pegs are provided and unless in strong winds, once your matt is inside that will give the bivvy most od its structure. I'm assuming the “three wire”, in the Three wire hooped bivvy, refers to the three additional guy out points, two at the feet and one at the head, theses increase the internal volume, pulling the bivvy taught. If you really want to get the most out of this feature.
