Weighing 220g (Medium), the Bergtagen Merino 190 Long Sleeve features a fine 190g/m² merino knit that feels exceptionally soft against the skin. The slim cut layers neatly under mid and outer shells, with a slightly elongated back hem that helps keep coverage secure. Breathability is strong for a wool piece, effectively managing moisture during higher exertion while retaining warmth in cold or damp weather.
Without doubt, the most comfortable winter base layer I have worn, and there is an argument for it becoming my new favourite. If it had a small zip for venting, it would be perfect for me. It is not the lightest option, but comfort and adaptability make it stand out. With merino’s natural odour resistance and reliable insulation even when damp, this feels like a dependable foundation for winter layering.
