Our Verdict
At 330g (Medium, the Bergtagen GTX Lite feels more like a serious mountain shell that has been thoughtfully trimmed down. I like that the feature set remains practical, with a helmet-compatible hood, high hand pockets that sit clear of a hipbelt, and a cut that allows good movement without feeling oversized. The new Gore-Tex ePE fabric keeps weight and pack size sensible, making it easier to justify carrying on longer mountain days where weather protection still matters.
The lighter 30D fabric does mean this is more trekking- and summer mountain-focused than a hard-use winter shell, but that trade-off feels sensible for the weight. Ventilation through the mesh-backed pockets works reasonably well, although sustained uphill efforts will still leave you wishing for pit zips. The repairable hood and hem hardware is also a thoughtful detail that fits the long-term approach Fjällräven tends to favour.
Best suited to lightweight mountain walking, trekking, and summer alpine uses, where packability, weather protection, and comfort all matter equally.
