Our Verdict
The Berghaus MTN Arete Ultra Down Hoody weighs 476g (Medium) and uses 850-fill Hydrodown with body-mapped baffles to put more insulation through the core without adding unnecessary bulk elsewhere.
I’m using the Large, which fits me perfectly and sits around belt level. I’m particularly impressed with the single-adjustment hood; one pull does a great job of cinching the whole hood close around the face.
I’m also a big fan of the two internal dump pockets, which are ideal for winter gloves or a hat. The only thing I’d change is the hand pockets, which I find a little small.
