Our Verdict
The Baltoro 65 is very much built around carrying weight comfortably rather than chasing low pack weights. At 2274g (Medium), it is a substantial rucksack, though the strong frame, dense padding and highly adjustable suspension justify much of that weight when the pack is properly loaded.
The revised 2026 version focuses on fit refinement, ventilation and stability rather than changing the overall concept. Gregory’s adjustable harness and hipbelt system gives a more tailored fit than most packs in this category, while the carry remains stable and well controlled under weight.
Organisation is particularly well executed. The U-zip front access makes packing and retrieval far easier than relying solely on top access, and the large hipbelt pockets and angled bottle holster work well. The side storage layout and durable 210D material also handle items like tent poles effectively without the worry that you will damage the pack.
Breathability has improved, though this is still a support-first design rather than a stripped-back lightweight pack.
The Baltoro 65 works best for backpackers prioritising comfort, structure and access while carrying heavier loads over long distances.

- Perimeter Frame Architecture: An alloy steel perimeter frame surrounds the pack’s hipbelt and harness, enabling a dynamic support system to move freely while providing stable load management. A fibreglass cross support positioned at the centre of the frame maintains the pack shape, so the pack’s weight stays close to your centre of gravity.
- 3D Shoulder Harness & Hipbelts: Shoulder harness and hipbelt are designed to have a pre-curved 3D shape, eliminating bunching and hot spots against your body. The 3D shape also provides consistent padding and support where the load of the pack meets your unique body shape.
- Adaptable Fit System: The ultimate in custom pack fit and available in three adjustable torso sizes which have fit ranges that overlap with one another, allowing you to size up or down to accommodate a smaller or larger body shape. The hipbelt padding also fully adjusts on all pack sizes to deliver refreshing, all-day comfort. Each pack’s torso length can adjust 7.6 cm and hipbelts adjust 8.9 cm on each side allowing for a 17.8 cm total hipbelt adjustment.
- ComfortGrip Lumbar: The soft mouded gription pad positioned on the small of the back prevents pack slip while carrying heavy loads. Only found on our Baltoro and Deva collections, this invaluable piece of technology keeps the pack positioned high on the hips to maximize load transfer and avoid the classic over-tightening of the hipbelt.
- TORSO LENGTH + BODY SHAPE: Unlike a typical two-torso size offering seen in other adjustable backpacks, the Baltoro is available in three adjustable torso sizes to deliver unrivalled trail comfort. This unique three-torso size offering means the back length adjustability overlaps across all three sizes, making it possible to select the size that most comfortably fits your back length and curvature but also gives you the option to size up or down to accommodate smaller or larger body shapes, without the need for swappable components.
