The Outdoor Research Astroman Full Zip Sun Hoodie sits in an interesting place for layering. Most sun hoodies function purely as base layers with a hood, but adding a full zip makes the Astroman far more adaptable. At 173g (Medium), it works comfortably next to the skin, yet it can also serve as a light midlayer during high summer.
The recycled nylon and spandex blend has a smooth feel with noticeable stretch, allowing unrestricted movement through the shoulders and arms. Breathability is good for a UPF 30 layer, and the full zip makes it easy to dump heat quickly on climbs or exposed ascents. The three-panel hood provides consistent coverage without feeling bulky.
