This jacket is lighter than a classic fleece and will become a highly useful part of your gear, whether you're in the city or out on a hike. Featuring raglan sleeves and an extended back with an adjustable elastic cord, the Apex Jacket doesn’t restrict movements and protects your lower back from wind.
One of the jacket’s most practical features is the high placement of the pockets — they remain easily accessible even when wearing a backpack with a fastened hip belt.
The Apex Jacket includes several thoughtful details that help retain warmth: a wind flap along the zipper (which also prevents fabric from getting caught), a tall collar, and a volume-adjustable hood.
The hood itself is spacious enough to comfortably wear a hat underneath — and the hat stays in place when the hood is removed.
When packed, the jacket takes up minimal space and volume.
Our Verdict
The Apex Jacket is Liteway’s first insulated piece built with Climashield insulation, a continuous-filament synthetic that retains its loft in damp conditions and maintains warmth when compressed. At 274g (Medium), it sits firmly in the lightweight category. The glossy face fabric gives it a distinctive look that may divide opinion, but it feels smooth, and durability appears sound for a 10D nylon. Warmth is consistent for the weight, and the jacket layers cleanly over a mid-layer.
It is easy to layer over the top when you have a few layers on, thanks to the raglan sleeves and a slightly extended back. Pockets are placed high enough to stay accessible while wearing a pack, and the internal dump pocket is practical and works well for stashing bulky gloves. The dump pocket unexpectedly includes a long key clip that suits keys (obviously), a compass, or a small knife. The external hand pockets are deep and usable with gloves. The hood has a single point of adjustment, and the sizing feels right for wearing a hat underneath without fuss.
