Our Verdict
At 514g (Medium), the Patagonia 2026 Retro Pile Jacket is heavy for a fleece, but the thick double-sided pile feels warm and comfortable. Raglan sleeves and flat seams allow easy movement, while two zipped hand pockets and a chest pocket provide practical storage.
The open pile breathes well, but it is bulky to carry, and the long fibres may pill or flatten under rucksack straps.
It's a classic piece that excels for everyday wear, campsites, travel and relaxed walks where comfort matters more than low weight.
