Our Verdict
The updated Tempest 26 continues to hit that sweet spot between low weight and excellent carry comfort. Weighing just 1018g, it’s ideal for day hikes, bikepacking, or lightweight overnights with compact gear. The new injection-moulded AirScape back panel adds structure without bulk, and the BioStretch harness and hipbelt flex naturally with your movement while keeping the load stable.
The women’s specific fit is excellent, with narrower shoulder straps, a shorter back length, and a contoured hipbelt that sits comfortably without digging in. The back length adjusts easily using a sliding buckle system, and the close fit remains breathable even on hot, high-output days.
Storage is practical and streamlined: a wide top opening to the main compartment, a stretch front stash pocket, two fabric hipbelt pockets, and side mesh pockets for bottles or spare layers. I liked the “Stow-on-the-Go” pole attachment and the external hydration sleeve, though getting the bladder in and out can be a bit fiddly.
My only real gripe is with the compression straps over the side pockets, which can restrict bottle access when fully tightened.
The newly updated helmet carry bar is slimmer and now holds climbing helmets securely — not just bike helmets — making it far more versatile for mixed mountain use.
