Our Verdict
The main fabric of the jacket is a 2.5-layer 20 denier Pertex shield; this gives the jacket a HH of 20000mm, which is impressive for a jacket in the weight category. As the name suggests, the jacket has a reasonable degree of strength; coupled with the articulated sleeves, this jacket moves well and doesn’t constrict. I've been using this jacket in some pretty wet conditions recently, doing a lot of hill walking, and the jacket breathes really well, even when I'm working hard.
The jacket has two hand-warming pockets protected by an Aquagard YKK zip; they are not gigantic pockets, and you couldn’t fit a folded OS map inside them, but they easily accommodate a phone and snacks.
The hood is a good size; it’s not helmet compatible, so you get an excellent flush fit once you tighten all the adjustment points.
