Our Verdict
At 459g, the Veil XP 20 is a stripped-back, fully waterproof pack that feels purpose-built for fast hiking and high-output days in mixed conditions. The vest-style harness fits close to the body and stays put, even when moving fast across uneven ground. Each side holds a 500ml soft flask and features a zipped pocket for secure essentials. The breathable mono-mesh and 3D spacer back panel keep things cool and comfortable during extended efforts.
Storage is smart for the size. The large front mesh pocket is perfect for stuffing a wet waterproof or quick-access layers, and the side pockets—one zipped, one open—are easy to reach while on the go. A simple pole sleeve adds to the fastpacking credentials, keeping things stable and accessible without extra weight.
The roll-top main compartment is IPX4-rated with taped seams, which means no faffing with dry bags. The dual sternum straps and minimalist hipbelt keep the fit dialled without overcomplicating things.
