Our Verdict
At 325g and 6 litres, the Rab Tygen 6 is aimed squarely at short hikes, runs, or bike rides where you want minimal bulk but still need thoughtful organisation. The Air Contour back system works well, with padded mesh and air channels that help reduce heat build-up on active days. The fit feels close and stable, and the removable hipbelt gives you the option to strip it back further when carrying lighter loads. I also appreciate the sturdy grab handle, which makes it easy to move the pack quickly in and out of storage.
For a small pack, access is excellent. The wide-opening zip gives a clear view into the main compartment, and the internal mesh pocket with key clip secures valuables. Side stretch pockets comfortably hold bottles, while the sternum strap adds extra stability. There’s also a bike light attachment point, useful for mixed urban and trail use.
The TriShield-coated nylon fabric feels tough for its weight, resisting scuffs and light rain well. While not designed for hauling sharp or bulky items, stitching and finish are reassuringly robust.
The Tygen 6 is a compact, streamlined option that handles the basics with ease. Its combination of airflow, practical storage, and durable build makes it a reliable choice for fast-paced days when you only need the essentials.
