Light, agile and protective. A dependable softshell glove for fast-paced movement in cold, windy conditions.
Rab says:
Lightweight gloves offering warmth and wind protection without compromising dexterity or breathability. Built with WINDSTOPPER® Products by GORE-TEX LABS, they're ideal for hikers and mountain runners tackling exposed ridgelines and winter ascents.
Our Verdict
The Rab Transition Windstopper Gloves balance dexterity and protection impressively well for their weight. At 43 g (Medium), they feel sleek and precise, with a close fit that allows confident pole handling. The GORE-TEX Windstopper fabric blocks wind effectively while remaining breathable enough for sustained effort, making it ideal for mountain running or brisk winter ascents.
The silicone palm print enhances grip in damp conditions, and the touchscreen compatibility works as intended, good for light navigation and the occasional photo. Warmth is moderate, so they excel when you’re moving hard rather than standing still, and the minimal insulation means layering with a mitt is sensible in colder, wetter weather.
Overall, they’re a refined, reliable option for active mountain use.
