The Rab Torque Mountain Shorts are excellent for summer adventures. They are made with a durable, flexible fabric that provides excellent mobility and built-in stretch.

Our Verdict
The Rab Torque Mountain Shorts are excellent for active summer adventures from scrambling to trekking. Cut from the same durable yet flexible Matrix double-weave nylon fabric as the full-length Torque pants; these shorts provide excellent mobility thanks to the built-in stretch.
Key features include the part-elastic waistband with snap/zip closure for a secure fit, multiple pockets for ample storage, and a regular active fit that allows unrestricted leg movement. The low-profile bonded belt loops keep things streamlined.
While not fully waterproof, the fluorocarbon-free DWR finish sheds light precipitation, making them more versatile than basic nylon shorts for changing mountain conditions. The fabric also breathes well.
Weighing 254g (based on the medium size), the Torque shorts are lightweight for fast-paced pursuits and have enough burlier construction to handle rugged scrambles. The 11-12 inch inseam hits right around the knee for most.
I prefer to see a slightly more elastic waistband. Still, overall, the Torque Mountain Shorts nail the critical attributes needed for mountain adventures—mobility, durability, and functional design. They are a quality, versatile choice from Rab.
