Our Verdict
Rab’s Phantom 2.5L Pants are built for speed and efficiency, using a 7D 2.5-layer fabric that provides strong waterproofing and breathability at a very low weight. At 83g (Medium), they feel minimal in the hand and pack into an ultralight stuff sack that takes up barely any room. The ergonomic cut and stretch make movement easy, helped by the pre-curved knees, and the partially elasticated waist holds them securely without digging in.
They pull on quickly over trail shoes, and the lower leg adjustments help tidy up the fit. The fabric’s delicacy means it's best suited to fast hiking or running rather than rough, abrasive terrain, but the build quality and taped seams give confidence in typical mountain weather. For anyone prioritising packability and performance over extra features, these pants deliver dependable, lightweight protection.
