Our Verdict
These waterproof, down-filled trousers excel on low-exertion trips and during stationary activities when the weather turns against you. They’re not designed for long hikes or covering many miles on foot, but they’re ideal for pulling on at camp when the temperature drops. They also perform well for static pursuits such as belaying or watching outdoor sports, and the durable 30-denier nylon shell inspires confidence for early morning dog walks or other casual cold-weather outings.
Two zipped pockets provide a bit of storage and a place to warm your hands. The elasticated hem feels a little narrow for my preference, I’d have liked something a bit more substantial, but overall, the trousers fit well and are true to size. Breathability is good for down-filled pants, though naturally, heat will build up if you’re exerting yourself.
At 407g for a medium, they aren’t exactly ultralight, more the kind of piece you’d carry to a winter camp, where their warmth more than justifies the extra grams in your pack, but in most cases, you’ll likely be wearing them from the start of your outing. These are warm, waterproof trousers that truly excel on low-effort or stationary winter trips.
