Our Verdict
The Mountain Arete LB Synthetic Hoody is the lightest weight member of Berghaus' newly re-introduced Extrem range. It is a very versatile jacket and one of the lightest synthetic jackets on the market.
The main thing that stands out about the Arete LB is that it is reversible, offering two jackets in one. This makes it more versatile than your typical synthetic jacket. One side is a windproof layer that protects you from harsh winds while keeping you insulated. The other side has a more breathable fabric that allows the wind to pass through, cooling you down when exerting yourself.
This dual function makes the Arete LB the perfect jacket for various outdoor pursuits. The windproof side is ideal for use on the bike or as a lightweight mid-layer. The breathable side is perfect when you need to move fast on a winter trail run or a fast ascent.
