UOG TOP PICK - Cocoon Mountain Wanderer Sleeping Bag - Quite a light bag for its rating, great as a summer bag or for hut hopping / travel. Doesn’t pack down as well as some others at similar weights but the price is amazing.
Cocoon's Mountain Wanderer sleeping bag gets a lot of ticks, its comfortable, has a full length zip, decent hood and footbox, small packed size and it's been EN Tested so you can be confident of its 8C rating.
Cocoon says
The Mountain Wanderer is a super-lightweight, compact summer sleeping bag made of lightweight 40 denier Ripstop Nylon and recycled Ecopet Performance insulation. It is ideal for staying overnight in alpine huts and it can also be used as a liner to add 12°C to the temperature rating of your sleeping bag.
Our Verdict
Cocoon's Mountain Wanderer is a genuine sleeping bag that could be used as a really warm liner. When used as a stand alone sleeping bag it's a comfortable, spacious bag with full zip, decent hood and boxed foot. Its been EN tested and gets a comfort limit of 8C which is a decent rating for a synthetic bag that only weighs 547grams, so its an ideal summer bag, or even 3 season if the night time temperatures stay quite high where you're going.
If you can afford to carry the weight and use the Mountain Wanderer to uprate your sleeping bag then it wirks better than the ubiquitous silk or polyester liners because it has a zip - great.
As Cocoon suggests it would also be a good bag for hut hopping. It's a great price too.
