Expedition-ready protection with practical versatility, the Mountain GTX Mitts provide a robust waterproof shell and insulated liner that can be worn together or separately for changing alpine conditions
Extremities says:
The Mountain GORE-TEX® Mitt is a heavy-duty 3-in-1 expedition mitt designed for extreme alpine conditions. Featuring a fully waterproof, breath able GORE-TEX® shell and a removable insulated liner, it delivers maximum protection, warmth, and versatility for mountaineering.
Built to perform in the harshest environments, the Mountain GORE-TEX® Mitt is a 3-in-1 system offering outstanding protection and adaptability for expeditions and technical mountaineering. The outer mitt features a robust GORE-TEX® shell with a hydrostatic head of 28,000mm, delivering guaranteed waterproof and breathable protection against snow, sleet, and driving rain.
A full PU palm adds durability and grip, while reinforced construction ensures reliability when handling ropes, tools, or equipment in alpine terrain. The long cuff with elasticated cord closure and adjustable wrist strap provides a secure, snow-proof seal, and a nose wipe panel adds comfort in sub-zero conditions.
Inside, the insulated removable mitt delivers warmth and comfort, allowing the system to be adapted for different activity levels or conditions. Worn together, the Mountain GORE-TEX® Mitt offers maximum protection in extreme cold; worn separately, the components provide flexibility for changing weather and exertion.
Our Verdict
Each mitt combines a Gore-Tex outer shell with a removable insulated inner, forming a two-part system often described as “3-in-1.” It’s worth noting that a separate liner glove is not included, so the setup only covers the outer and mid insulation layers. The Gore-Tex shell delivers reliable waterproofing and wind resistance, while the PU palm adds grip and durability for handling poles or tools.
The removable inner mitt provides solid warmth for cold, dry conditions and can be used on its own during less exposed periods. The long cuff and wrist strap seal effectively against snow ingress, and overall comfort is good given the expedition-grade build. Breathability is reasonable for a fully waterproof mitt, though, as expected, moisture can build up under sustained activity. These mitts are well-suited to harsh mountain environments where reliability and modularity matter more than outright dexterity.
