Warm, precise and protective. A reliable soft-shell glove with excellent dexterity for technical use in cold conditions.
Mountain Equipment says:
Adaptable and low-profile, the Super Alpines are ideal for almost any outing.
The Super Alpine Glove combines windproof and water resistant EXOLITE XP with the warmth and comfort of PrimaLoft®. A microfleece lining minimises bulk and ensures dexterity.
Our Verdict
The Mountain Equipment Super Alpine Gloves balance warmth and dexterity impressively well. At 115 g (Medium), they feel light yet substantial, with a soft-shell outer and leather palm that grips securely on poles, tools or rope. The PrimaLoft Gold insulation and microfleece lining provide warmth without bulk, keeping fingers agile even in sub-zero conditions.
The fit is snug and pre-curved, helping to reduce fatigue when worn for prolonged periods. Wind and light snow are well resisted, though in sustained wet or deep winter use, a heavier waterproof over shell would be preferable. The cuff design allows quick on-off adjustment with one hand
For winter mountaineering, or technical trekking, these gloves deliver a dependable mix of durability, dexterity and warmth that suits most cold-weather mountain days.
