A precise, well-balanced glove that combines dexterity, wind protection and durability for alpine and winter use.
Mountain Equipment says:
A lightweight and supremely versatile soft shell glove for ski-touring and mountaineering.
The surgical precision of the G2 is welcome whether adjusting boot buckles or placing crucial climbing protection. The Goatskin leather palm and soft shell outer combine durability, windproofness and comfort, while the microfleece lining provides vital warmth.
Our Verdict
At 89g (Medium), the G2 Alpine offers a close, articulated fit with pre-curved fingers that reduce fatigue during long periods of gripping poles or handling gear. The soft-shell outer blocks wind effectively, while the goatskin leather palm gives secure grip and abrasion resistance on rocks when scrabbeling. Inside, the microfleece lining adds moderate warmth without sacrificing dexsterity or breathability. The low-bulk cuff makes it easy to slip under jacket sleeves, aiding comfort and mobility.
There is no touchscreen functionality, which I miss when checking navigation or taking a quick photo, though others may not find its absence noticeable.
