Expedition Foods says
This easy mediterranean pasta recipe is packed with veggies including green beans, bell peppers, lentils, sweetcorn, black olives and onions. These veggies combine with wheat pasta shells and mixed herbs of oregano, basil, thyme, rosemary and others to make the perfect meal for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. A staple of the Expedition Foods range, can be enjoyed in the backyard, on the road or at Mt. Everest Base Camp. Just add hot water, stir and wait five minutes. Perfection.
Preparation: Remove the oxygen absorber (sachet) from inside the pouch. Add 160ml of boiling water, stir the contents, and then close the bag and wait 5-8 minutes for the food to re-hydrate.
Cold water will suffice in an emergency, however the re-hydration time is much longer. The oxygen absorber helps maintain product freshness and is non toxic. Do not eat.
Expedition Foods meals have a long shelf life of up to 5 years.

STAFF'S TASTE TEST - The Mediterranean Vegetable Pasta, like many of Expedition Foods meals, comes in either a 450cal or 800cal pack to suit a variety of activities and calorie requirements. This meal is a great vegetarian option that includes pasta shells, lots of olives, green beans and sweet corn to name a few ingredients. This variety of ingredients provides a great amount of texture something, which can often go missing when tucking into many other de-hydrated meals. Be careful when filling with water that the correct amount is measured as the sauce does become very thin if you overfill. We found that putting slightly under the required amount of water actually helped boost flavour. Unfortunately, Expedition Foods don't include a fill line within the packaging so using a pot or mug with measurements on certainly helps. |
