A lightweight, windproof and fast-drying layer with added warmth for hiking and running in the mountains.
Mountain Equipment says:
This versatile layer keeps the wind out while providing just enough warmth in exposed situations. The jacket has a superlight double-weave soft shell fabric and a moisture-wicking micro-grid lining. After the ascent, it dries quickly, making it ideal to wear in fast-changing conditions.
Our Verdict
Light, breathable, and quick to dry, this jacket keeps pace with high-output mountain days. A versatile wind-resistant layer for exposed ground and variable skies.
The Mountain Equipment Aerotherm Jacket is a versatile wind-resistant layer that strikes a balance between protection and breathability. The EXOLITE 45 softshell fabric effectively cuts wind, and the recycled micro-grid lining adds a touch of warmth while wicking moisture quickly when working hard.
The articulated fit moves well, the hood is secure without feeling bulky, even when stashed. I like the no-fuss design: clean lines, just enough pocket storage, and a simple packaway system with karabiner loops. The cuffs aren't adjustable, but they sit close enough to stay put under gloves or layers.
