The Khumbu Lite AS is a lightweight yet faithful companion and trekking pole for all mountain adventures. On long, demanding hikes, it is important to protect joints and ligaments, which is ensured by the DSS Antishock System, which is integrated above the tip. The Aergon CorTec handle offers perfect grip and ensures comfortable pole handling.
Do not use the cane(s) as a walking aid in accordance with DIN EN 1985. Poles intended exclusively for trekking, cross-trail, trail running and Nordic walking may not be used for skiing.
Our Verdict
Each pole weighs 252g and is made from HTS 6.5 aluminium, striking a solid balance between weight and durability. The Speed Lock Plus adjustment is simple to use, even in gloves, and the 100–135 cm range covers most needs comfortably. The Aergon grips are nicely shaped and the cork blend gives a reassuring feel without getting slippery when wet. I found the Lock Security Strap Soft 2.0 stays comfortable even when tensioned for long descents.
The Dynamic Suspension System helps absorb some of the impact that would otherwise travel up through the pole into your wrist. It’s a thoughtful addition that takes the edge off repetitive strikes, though it might feel a little different at first if you’re used to more traditional, rigid poles.
