A robust companion for serious adventurers, the Garmin Instinct 2 keeps up with the pace and provides critical insights without compromising on ruggedness.

Garmin says:

Whatever you do, own it.

This rugged GPS smartwatch is tough enough to keep up with you and unique enough to fit your style. This rugged multisport watch is water-rated to 100 metres and is thermal and shock resistant. Plus, with a fibre-reinforced polymer case and chemically strengthened, scratch-resistant Corning® Gorilla® Glass, this device is built to endure.

Our Verdict

The Garmin Instinct 2 GPS Watch balances rugged endurance and versatile outdoor performance. Built to withstand harsh conditions, it features a durable fibre-reinforced polymer case and scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass, making it suitable for everything from mountain trails to wet and windy hikes. The Instinct 2 supports multi-GNSS navigation, combining GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo satellite systems to deliver precise tracking, even in difficult or remote terrains.

One standout feature is its extensive battery life: up to 28 days in smartwatch mode and up to 30 hours in GPS mode. In terms of functionality, the watch includes comprehensive training tools like VO2 max, recovery time, and intensity tracking.

This model's new features, such as Body Battery energy monitoring, fitness age tracking, and advanced sleep monitoring, are handy for monitoring long-term health. For multi-sport athletes, the watch now includes swimming, cycling, and mountain biking profiles. It even tracks metrics like MTB dynamics, making it a companion for diverse athletic pursuits. Moreover, with Garmin Pay and smartphone notifications, the Instinct 2 is functional enough for everyday use, bridging the gap between fitness tracker and smartwatch.

Despite its tough build, the Instinct 2’s interface is user-friendly, with a monochrome, sunlight-readable display that enhances outdoor readability. While its simpler design may lack high-end visual appeal, the Instinct 2 remains a dependable tool that prioritises durability and utility.

  • Connect IQ Store - Download custom watch faces, add data fields, and get apps and widgets from the Connect IQ Store app on your compatible smartphone.
